The fan signals shown in ‘Mr. Darcy’s Fan Club’ really existed and were used at the time Jane Austen was writing and visiting Bath. At that time young women were constantly escorted and supervised by their parents or a suitable chaperone, making intimate conversations almost impossible!
This book celebrates a non-verbal form of
communication which could be understood by people without the barriers imposed
by language. Currently presented as an artist's book, I am seeking a commercial publisher!
